 … in that case, you’ll probably want to know a little about me now that you’re here. (Danvers, put in some stuff here about my being handsome, clever, witty, debonaire. Usual stuff, there’s a good chap.)

Who am I?

Alex MacPhee, First Disciple of the Pink Frog. (I know, I know, but it’s a long-running joke among those who’ve known me a long time.)

Where am I?

Deep in the steamy rainforests of central Surrey, United Kingdom.

What do I do?

Professionally, I was something in the IT arena of the world’s leading telecommunications company.  I’m now a fellow of leisure, having taken early retirement, in small part on the basis that it was more expensive to carry on working, but principally to have the time to devote to my wonderful wife Frances, during her long illness.

 How do you know you know me?

A little of my past should help. My schooldays were spent at Lourdes School, Glasgow. For several years, I worked in a cancer research laboratory in the Royal Beatson Hospital Institute for Cancer Research, in Glasgow’s city centre. In 1975 I left Glasgow for Edinburgh and a career in Post Office Telecommunications, later British Telecom after graduating from the University of Edinburgh. In 1986 I left Scotland for London and a major computing project with British Telecom. If you’re still not sure after these clues, just drop me a line anyway.

I used to have a really good answer for this ; but I guess these days it’s down to a web presence, where I can be found and, if the mood takes anyone, be contacted.
